Dental Implants Wrexham

The Gold Standard for Tooth Replacement

At FHP Gwersyllt Dental Wrexham, we believe that a healthy smile is the foundation of happiness and confidence. We know that missing teeth can affect how you look, feel and even how you eat or speak. That is why we are committed to providing the highest quality dental implant treatments designed to restore both function and confidence in your smile.

Why Choose Dental Implants?

Dental implants are considered the gold standard for replacing missing teeth. While traditional dentures or bridges can be effective, implants offer a permanent, stable solution that looks and feels just like your own natural teeth. With the right care, they can last a lifetime.

What are Dental Implants?

A dental implant is a small titanium post that’s carefully placed into the jawbone to act as a stable base for a replacement tooth. Much like the root of a natural tooth, the implant anchors the restoration securely and allows biting forces to transfer naturally through the jawbone.

Modern dental implants work through a process called osseointegration, this is when the surrounding bone gradually bonds with the implant surface, locking it firmly in place. This healing phase usually takes between 6 and 12 weeks, after which the implant can support crowns, bridges, or even full dentures.

Our implants are crafted from commercially pure grade 4 titanium, a biocompatible and non-toxic material that is widely used in medical applications. Known for its strength and durability, titanium is particularly effective in joint replacements and other orthopedic procedures. Grade 4 titanium provides excellent structural integrity and can endure for many years. It is lightweight and has been proven to form a strong bond with the surrounding bone during the healing process, ensuring a stable and long-lasting implant.

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I a candidate for dental implants?

Most adults with missing teeth that have good oral hygiene and good overall general health are candidates. Adequate bone density is needed to support the implant, but even if bone loss has occurred, bone grafting may be an option.

How long does the dental implant process take?

Dental implant treatment is not completed in one visit. After your initial consultation, the implant is placed and left to heal as it integrates with the bone.  This process generally takes a few months,  before the permanent crown(s) or denture is fitted.

Is the dental implant procedure painful?

Most patients report minimal discomfort during the procedure. A local anesthesia is used to numb the area, many say the procedure feels similar to a routine tooth extraction. Mild post op swelling and bruising may occur and tenderness afterward is normal and can be managed with over-the-counter pain relief.

How do I care for my dental implants?

Care for your dental implants just as you would your natural teeth. Maintaining excellent oral hygiene is essential.  Brush twice a day, clean between your teeth daily with interdental brushes and continue attending your regular dental appointments.

Can I have dental implants if I smoke?

Dental implants are much more likely to fail if you are a smoker. Smoking has a significant negative impact on oral health, especially the bone that supports your teeth and dental implants. You would need to discuss this with the dentist.

Can dental implants replace multiple missing teeth?

Absolutely. Implants can support individual crowns, bridges, or even full-arch dentures, making them a versatile solution for single or multiple missing teeth.
